	Short Term course
	Each year about 3-4 refresher courses are organised by the Institute for professionals working in the field of mental retardation.
	Occasionally refresher course and continuing educational programmes are also arranged by the Institute on specific request from non- Government and Governmental organisations. In addition, the Institute organises 25 to 30 short term cours4es every year. The duration of such courses is 3 to 5 days and the courses cover.

	(d) Appreciation programme for AIR producers
	(e) Media work-shop on disability
	The target population of other short term courses were Pediatricians, Psychologists, special educators, Speech pathologists, Physiotherapist in primary health centres
	Parents training programmes
	The Institute Organises 15 to 20 parents training programmes every year.  The Institute on receiving invitation from Non Government organisations sends its core faculty to organise training programme for parents and siblings at various centres in the state. Average attendance in each of these parent training programmes is about 30. The parents are imparted information on training, education and management of their children with mental retardation.
